Hypnosis is perfectly safe & healthy
You are not put to sleep, go into a zombie-like state, or made to do things against your will.
You are awake, though feeling very relaxed, and aware of everything that is happening.
As you are so relaxed, you may nod off into a light sleep, though you can come out of a hypnotherapy session at any time you wish.
Your Hypnotherapist is there to help and support you and will keep you informed of the process at all times.
Hypnotherapy is an extremely proven technique that is effective, simple, safe....& works!
Some Questions frequently asked in a Hypnotherapy Session
- Q - What happens at the beginning of a session?
A - You will made to feel welcome before your therapist will go through the stages of the hypnosis with you and what will happen during the session. They will also answer any questions you may have.
- Q - Are the sessions generic, a 'one size fits all' session?
A - Only the inducing down part is the same for all clients. However, you will also be asked questions related to your specific problem that you need help with. This information will be used to personalise the main powerful suggestions of the session.
- What does 'inducing down' mean?
Everyone coming for hypnotherapy needs to helped into a relaxed sleep-like state, this is a process called 'inducing down'. You will be asked to focus on your breathing and your body to enable you to fall deeper into a relaxed state. Once you are relaxed the main part of the session gets underway, this is where the powerful suggestions are introduced into your subconscious.
- What happens if I fall asleep during the session?
This is perfectly safe and just means that you are extremely relaxed. You may slip in and out of sleep and conscious awareness, this is also perfectly safe and normal. You subconscious will still hear the powerful suggestions.
- How do I wake up from the hypnosis?
Once the therapist has reinforced the new life-changing powerful suggestions into your subconscious and the session is nearing its end, it will take only a moment to bring you back to conscious awareness. It is a bit like waking up from sleep generally and is perfectly safe.
- Will I feel drowsy after the session, can I still drive home?
You may only feel slightly sleepy still and you will certainly feel relaxed. You will still be able to stand, walk and drive. You may experience a little numb feeling usually in your hands or feet, this is common and is a good sign that you have been effected by the hypnosis, though not everyone experiences this. This soon wears off within minutes. You should sleep very well that night.
- Are there any other after-effects?
Yes but only positive ones, that the changes you desire will begin to take effect.
- Can everyone be hypnotised?
Usually most people can be hypnotised. It is best if you come to the sessions relaxed and with an open mind. This is your hour, you may as well use it to your advantage. If you let your mind wander during the inducing down stage of the hynotherapy, then this will make a difference as to how deeply your subconsious can be accessed. The more you focus and relax the more effective the session will be.
- Is one session enough?
Changes can be made in just one session, eg you can literally stop smoking, however it is recommended that you have a further session or two as this reinforces the powerful suggestions enhancing the effectiveness of the hypnosis. All sessions are to be taken weekly for greater effectiveness. If you are having hypnotherapy for weight loss then this is a four session programme, taken weekly so please ensure you can manage one appointment each week. With weight-loss, as there is such a lot of bad-habits formed over the years to change then more time is needed to make these changes.
- What happens if the hypnotherapy wears off?
Hypnotherapy is very powerful and should be long-lasting esp if you have had a reinforcement session or two. Sometimes in life, a crisis occurs and this can sometimes unsettle the subconscious and old habits re-occur. If this happens, simply come back for a one-off session.
- Some people say that hypnotherapy doesn't work, is this true?
Hypnotherapy does work, otherwise it wouldn't be practiced, we at A New Beginning certainly wouldn't risk our professional reputation if it didn't. If people don't relax enough in the session, letting their mind wander too much then this pushes against trying to induce you down into a completely relaxed state necessary for the hypnosis to work effectively. If they only come for one session, don't finish a recommended course or leave it too long inbetween sessions this can also make a difference to its success or not.
